Chepachet is a rural southern New England town; it is tucked into a corner of Rhode Island that borders both Massachusetts and Connecticut. Blueberry Pointe on the Lake is just minutes from Interstate Routes 295 and 395. Because of our central location, day trips to virtually anywhere in New England are easy to plan. If you need more help, feel free to call or send us an e-mail. We'll be happy to offer suggestions to make your stay with us just right for your budget and timetable. Here are a few ideas: |
The Chepachet Village Area
Chepachet, Rhode Island is a village of about 5,000 people within the Town of Glocester. Many properties are listed on the National Historical Register. The main street --- about one mile from Blueberry Pointe on the Lake --- is dotted with antique and craft shops. The Evans schoolhouse [to the left] was restored by the Glocester Heritage Society. |
Chepachet has a number of historical landmarks that date back to the 1700's. Among them is Brown & Hopkins Country Store, known for its "penny" candy counter and as "the oldest continuously operating general store in North America." |
Chester's Restaurant is our favorite local restaurant. Family owned and operated, Chester's has a fieldstone fireplace, large menu, and plentiful servings. It is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. |
Pulaski Memorial Recreation Area is a day use facility offering users trout fishing in the spring, picnics, short hikes, and cool swimming in 13 acre Peck Pond. In the winter, guests can cross-country ski on 10 miles of groomed trails into the adjacent George Washington Management area. |

Glocester
Goats and Greens offers
handcrafted goat
milk soap and gifts, goat milk lotion, and "goat'abilia", including
skin care products. They also feature a full line of home grown
herbs and spices for making memorable salads and main courses. |
Providence
Providence is one of the best small cities in America. Among destinations, you might visit Federal Hill with its Italian restaurants and markets, or the international Thayer Street on the east side, with its multitude of shops, restaurants, and students. |
One of the most beautiful and unusual attractions is the Water Fire: a multi-media event that combines its primal elements with evocative music, all along the one mile Riverwalk. |
Take a stroll or rent a paddle boat at Roger Williams Park, where the Zoo features a rarity - a polar bear family often with cubs. The park features gardens for strolling and a bandstand for outdoor concerts. |
Providence Place is an upscale shopping mall replete with designer stores such as Nordstrom and a host of fabulous restaurants. The Rhode Island School of Design Museum is also nearby. Both are must-see attractions while "downcity." |
Providence is known for many cultural activities, including Trinity Theater and the Providence Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available on-line. Many excellent restaurants are only mere steps away from either venue. |
While you are downcity, treat yourself to a bite to eat at the Trinity Brewhouse and enjoy one of their freshly brewed beers. Carolyn recommends the calamari appetizer, and Stephen suggests the pulled pork sandwich. Both go nicely with an IPA! |
Newport
Newport is home of magnificent mansions, lovely beaches, and many recreational opportunities. Steeped in history, Newport offers abundant natural beauty, excellent shopping, and fine dining. Approximately an hour's drive from Chepachet, Newport is a favorite day trip destination for our guests. For more information on what to do while in Newport, click here. |
World famous mansions along the Cliff Walk speak of a by-gone era when Newport was the center of America's summertime social society. Today, The Breakers and other restored mansions are run by non-profit organization and open for public tours. Crystal chandeliers, art by the masters, and ornamentation from the world over adorn the mansions. |
Fine dining abounds in Newport. But for a great meal at reasonable prices in a fun setting, we recommend The Brick Alley Pub on Thames Street, just steps from the harbor. It is a high-energy, fun retreat from the bustle of gift shopping. |
Now you can enjoy the fun and convenience of high speed ferry service from Providence to Newport. Fares are reasonable, you avoid the traffic and you get a cruise of Narragansett Bay! |
Other Day Trip Destinations
Just over an hour away from Chepachet, Old Mystic Seaport is a faithful restoration of a New England whaling and fishing community at the time when families depended on the sea for their living. |
For those with a sense of adventure, Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino are located in nearby Connecticut and are about an hour's drive from Chepachet. In addition to casino games, both offer nightly entertainment and numerous themed restaurants. |
